The PEF Story
About the Pana Educational Foundation

It all started with an idea in 1999 by Don Allen (School Board President). An idea he brought back from a break out session at a School Board conference. It was on Foundations.

Local businessman Bob Crawford donated $1,000 to get the account open and the Foundation established.

The time consuming events, discussions, meeting, organizing things, etc. to lay the foundation for the Foundation (pun intended) was set into motion and the foundation was formed with the first recorded minutes being in February 2000.

Then the thing stalled and set idle until July of 2002 when then our new superintendent Dr. Lett and the board at that time, organized and developed a GAME PLAN. They based this plan on the mission statement and the bylaws. they developed their fundraising ideas and disimbursement of funds goals. The Foundation was back in action.

Th Foundation's main source of funds, were through solicitation of businesses and individuals, 3 point basket sponsorship, and an annual appeal letter.

The main objectives of the foundation are to provide the extra, the extraordinary, the above and beyond. They have and are doing that through:

- Scholarships
- Mini Grants
- Special Projects
- The Foundation has taken over the Wall of Fame

*The courtyard is the first Special Project the Foundation has and is working on at this time.
